Hey guys! How is it mid February already? The last few months have been sort of a blur. In November, we had our little girl, Eliza, and I can’t believe she is already three months old. She is so calm and sweet even with the constant chaos of her brother and sister. Seriously, I am so thankful she can nap through their screams and running around!
Is anyone else thrilled about the new year? 2020 has been a stressful time for so many, and I am grateful for the fresh start that 2021 brings. I’m not one to ever set a resolution, but I have set a few goals I’d like to work on this year. One goal is to read through this stack of books:

This year, I want to make sure I’m prioritizing my own reading time. I spend a lot of time throughout the day reading with the kids, but I want to be sure I’m setting time aside for myself to read books that interest me. My book list this year is mainly focused on topics to help me prepare for our first year of formal homeschool lessons which is quickly approaching. The list includes:
- The Mission of Motherhood: Touching Your Child’s Heart for Eternity
- Home Education (The Home Education Series) (Volume 1)
- A Philosophy of Education (The Home Education Series)
- Free to Learn
- The Explosive Child: A New Approach for Understanding and Parenting Easily Frustrated, Chronically Inflexible Children
- There’s No Such Thing as Bad Weather: A Scandinavian Mom’s Secrets for Raising Healthy, Resilient, and Confident Kids (from Friluftsliv to Hygge)
- Teaching from Rest: A Homeschooler’s Guide to Unshakable Peace
- Know and Tell: The Art of Narration
- The Lifegiving Parent: Giving Your Child a Life Worth Living for Christ
- Balanced and Barefoot (How Unrestricted Outdoor Play Makes for Strong, Confident, and Capable Children)
- In Vital Harmony: Charlotte Mason and the Natural Laws of Education
- A Charlotte Mason Companion: Personal Reflections on the Gentle Art of Learning
I am really looking forward to digging into these books and soaking up all they have to offer. What are you making a priority this year? What are some goals you’re hoping to accomplish? Life giving parent is SO good. Actually, I’ve loved everything by Clay and Sally Clarkson! Such an inspiring reading list, I’m adding these to my own. Thanks for sharing!!
The Clarksons are great!! Thank you so much!
Charlotte Mason is on my list of important education authors I need to read. I would add that Educating the Whole Hearted Child was instrumental in my decision to home educate, and I would also recommend Slow and Steady Get Me Ready by June Oberlander, and Teaching the Trivium by Harvey and Laurie Bluedorn if you haven’t already read it. Those will take you from infant through college.
I haven’t read those. Thank you for the suggestions! I’ll definitely check them out!
