Welcome to the Abundant Life Homestead!

August 20, 2017 by abundantlifehomestead Leave a Comment

Hi! Welcome to the Abundant Life Homestead.  My name is Kelsey, and I am a wife and mother in the mountains of West Virginia. I grew up in the city but am now dedicated to a simpler life on the homestead. I enjoy cooking, sourdough baking, reading, knitting, and embroidery. I’m also interested in learning new skills that can help us to be more self sufficient.

My husband is an RN and manager of our local emergency room. He is the muscle behind our homestead projects. None of it could be done without him, and there’s no one else I’d rather be on this homesteading journey with. We have three children, and they are true homestead kids. They love adventuring outdoors, being with our animals, and helping in the garden.

On our two acre homestead, we raise egg layers, meat birds, pigs, ducks, rabbits, and our pet goats. Our gardens seem to grow larger each year. We also have two high tunnels. We try to grow and preserve as much of our own food as we can. All of our butchering is done here on the homestead.

We are a Charlotte Mason homeschooling family. We hope to build a strong family culture here by living and working together each day. Our children tag along in almost all of our homestead projects. I have found it fits perfectly into our homeschool lifestyle.

Here, you will find my thoughts on family life, homegrown food, and living education. Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you’ll come back again.

Wishing you an abundant life,
Kelsey
