Hey guys! I am so excited to be back updating you on everything that has been going on. First, my IT Department (AKA Chance) built us a new computer, and we are flying on this thing! I was having so much trouble getting any work done on the blog on the old computer, but now that we’ve upgraded, we are rolling! This will make it so much easier to write on a more consistent basis.
And the big announcement- we started a YouTube channel! We have gone back and forth over the past few months on whether or not to start a channel, but we finally took the plunge. I am sort of camera shy, so it’s a bit out of my comfort zone, but everyone has been so encouraging, so I’m excited to keep sharing videos of what we have going on here with you.
So, let’s recap the Homesteaders of America Conference. It was such a blessing to be able to attend such a special event. To be around almost 3,000 other people who are interested in a lot of the same things we are was so exciting. For once, we didn’t feel like the odd man out! We did bring the kids with us, so we weren’t able to sit down and listen to a lot of the speakers, so I am thankful for the Homesteaders of America membership where we will be able to tune in to all that we missed. The speaker line up was amazing, so I’m sure there was tons of valuable information given. The kids had a blast running around, looking at the different animals (hello, alpacas!), and checking out all the amazing vendors. I’m so glad that the conference was family-friendly, and that there were even classes for the children. We really enjoyed the story time with Joel Salatin as a family.
What I found to be so incredible about the conference was the sense of community. It was sort of like a big family reunion. We were able to see so many people that we have only chatted with online which was really exciting. What I love about this conference and this community is everyone is so encouraging and tries to build one another up. It isn’t a rat race to see who can get to the top first. Everyone genuinely wants everyone else to succeed at what they’re trying to accomplish on their homestead. You don’t see that very often anymore in our society.
No matter where you are on your homesteading journey, there is something for you at this conference. I would highly recommend it for any homesteader looking for a great opportunity to learn and connect with fellow homesteaders. We came home so inspired and with so many new dreams and ideas for our homestead. The few days spent away from our homestead re-lit our fire for all things homesteading. We will definitely be back to the conference next year!
Thank you all for your continued support and sharing this journey with us. We have so many exciting ideas we want to share with you as we continue to build up our homestead.
